DIY: Visualizing a Dream Career in Design
The screen you’re looking at? Someone designed that. And the chair you’re sitting on. And your desk. And the funny elephant pencil holder you’ve had since you were eight. Designed by someone, somewhere, with the creative and technical skills to take an idea and turn it into something real.
Across all industries, designers who can create with their heads and work with their hands are needed to turn inspiration into innovation. Whatever your specific interest is, Golden West College’s cutting-edge design studios are ready to give you the training you need to succeed in this ever-evolving, Future-BUILT field.
Golden West College’s Design Certificate of Achievement prepares successful students for employment as entry level designers, design interns, model makers, technicians, and CAD designers. Courses explore critical concepts like design theory, ideation, 2D and 3D visualization, rapid prototyping, computer-aided design (CAD), materials and technical processes. For students that are considering an Associate degree, these courses also form the foundation for all of GWC’s design-related majors.
The practical, project-based nature of this certificate culminates with the creation of a professional portfolio that can be shown to potential employers. Students may also choose to participate in the semi-annual GWC Design Student Show.
If you’re ready to start designing the future you’ve always dreamed of… your Career Education is waiting!
